At the end of the 70s, after a period of concerts and audio-visual performances, Christina Kubisch decided not to perform any more on stage. She wanted instead to create spaces where the public could move individually between different sound sources, listen with his/her own inherent time and discover unusual horizons of music. From the beginning she researched the multhiple possibilities of different locations for sound sources in space as well as the site specific aspects of the architecture. Many of her large scale installations were created especially for a given place.
