At the end of the 70s, after a period of concerts and audio-visual performances, Christina Kubisch decided to leave the stage. She wanted to create spaces where the audience could move individually between different sound sources, listen with their own inherent time and discover different horizons of music. Right from the start she explored the various options of distributing sound in a given space, taking into account the site specific aspects of the architecture. Most of her large scale installations, indoors and outdoors, were created specifically for a given space.
